Inhalt

COP28 in Dubai is coming up in December 2023 and the topic of sustainable finance and the role of banks will take on a more central role this year. It is even rumored that COP29 will be entirely dedicated to financing the transition towards decarbonization. Since the Paris Climate Agreement was adopted in 2015, governments, academica, NGOs and the media have sought to focus more attention on financial institutions: private sector capital as a catalyst for a transformed 2-degree world.

How is sustainability and climate change being discussed in the banking sector? What approaches exist to classify sustainable economic activities? And do these tools really help to mitigate climate change? How can the tension between environment and economy be reconciled? These and other questions will be examined in this two-day seminar. Presentations on selected topics will round off the discussion.
