19th Karlsruhe Dialogues – Speakers

Max Scharnigg, born in Munich in 1980, works as a journalist and writer. His first novel, Die Besteigung der Eiger-Nordwand unter einer Treppe (2010), was awarded the Bavarian State Award for the Advancement of Arts as well as the Mara Cassens Prize, and was also nominated for the Ingeborg Bachmann Prize. His second novel, Vorläufige Chronik des Himmels über Pildau, was published in 2013. Scharnigg has also written enjoyable non-fiction books on hotels, gardening, and the German language, as well as a forthcoming book on fishing. In addition to this, he is an editor for the ‘Weekend’ department of the Süddeutsche Zeitung.
