The Singing Cellist: A Unique Trio

The pianist and composer Edward Rushton studied in England, Scotland and Switzerland. He has been teaching piano accompaniment at the Musikhochschule Luzern since 2000.
As Lied accompanist and chamber musician he has performed in Germany, the UK, Belgium, Poland, France, Italy, Greece and Switzerland, with such singers as Juliane Banse, Sybille Diethelm, Annina Haug, Jeannine Hirzel, Lena Kiepenheuer, Theresa Kronthaler, Yvonne Naef, Robin Adams, Richard Burkhard, Michael Mogl, René Perler, Jakob Pilgram, László Polgár, Jonathan Sells, and Simon Wallfisch. Rushton is also playing in various chamber music formations.
He has recorded several discs for the labels Nimbus, Guild Music, Musicaphon, Musiques Suisses, BIS, Delphian, and Lyrita.
Rushton’s love for Lieder and songs led him in 2015 to found, together with a group of like-minded singers and pianists, the company Besuch der Lieder (The Company of Song) in order to further the performance of Lieder in private spaces in Switzerland.
