Paul Cervenec

Musician (contrabass)

Paul Cervenec was born in Gera, Germany. He received his first violin lesson when he was four years old, and later also had lessons on the double bass and guitar. During his school years, he was already a preparatory student at the University of Music Karlsruhe. He began his music studies there in 2001, receiving his diploma in 2005 and passing his Master’s examination in 2006. He also attended master classes for new and early music. In addition to numerous solo and chamber music performances, Cervenec already had orchestral experience before beginning his studies, as solo bassist for the Bayerisches Landesjugendorchester (the Bavarian State Youth Orchestra) and the Bayreuth Festival. Later, there were also projects with the Baden-Baden Philharmonic, the Heidelberger Sinfoniker, the Südwestdeutsches Kammerorchester (the Southwest German Chamber Orchestra) Pforzheim, and the SWR Symphony Orchestra Baden-Baden and Freiburg, among others. Chamber music performances and tours led him to the USA, China, Japan, and Korea, and to other countries in Europe. Cervenec works as a lecturer at the University of Music Karlsruhe and as a double bass teacher in Karlsruhe.
