Philippe Gröschel

Philippe Gröschel is a board member of the Association for the Voluntary Self-Monitoring of Multimedia Service Providers (the FSM), where he is also a Com-missioner for the Protection of Youth and is responsible for the media policies of the VZ online social networks (schülerVZ, studiVZ, and meinVZ). Since the begin-ning of 2007, he has been involved in setting up schülerVZ (an online social net-work for schoolchildren). The platform, whose dynamic is a result solely of user-generated content, is the most successful social network for an underage target group in Europe. For these special circumstances, Philippe Gröschel developed and put together new youth protection measures based on technological and media pedagogy approaches. Philippe Gröschel was born in Regensburg in 1985. In addition to his work with the VZ networks, he has been studying jurispru-dence since 2006 at the Freie Universität Berlin. From 2004 to 2006, he was a member on the board of Baden-Württemberg’s Student Advisory Committee.
