Hatem Atallah

Speaker

Hatem Atallah, born in 1955, studied English philology and sociology of development at the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences in Tunis. Between 1994 and 2012, he was the Tunisian ambassador in South Africa, Namibia, the USA, Ethiopia, Uganda, the UK, and various other countries. He has participated in several missions and summits of the African Union and he was the permanent representative to the African Union, the Economic Commission for Africa, the United Nations Economic Programme, and UN-Habitat. From 2014 to 2015, he worked as a diplomatic advisor to the head of the Tunisian government. He is the current executive director of the Anna Lindh Foundation, a network of civil society organizations dedicated to the promotion of intercultural dialogue in the Mediterranean region.
