Inhalt | Citizens Assemblies on climate change engage people from diverse gender and race identities, generations, geographic areas, socio-economic and educational backgrounds, etc. to discuss and elaborate recommendations for policies on climate change. In the past few years this form of participatory decision-making has been gaining momentum throughout Europe and globally to ensure a wide and robust social consensus on the climate crisis. Such deliberations represent an applied area, where effective day-to-day conversations on climate change are crucial. Constructive daily conversations on climate change, however, have been hindered by the socio-political polarization and confinement to the “green areas” membership, including academia. In this course-workshop, depending on the participants’ interests, a range of topics from daily communication to citizens assemblies on climate change will be addressed. The participants will have the opportunity to immerse in evidence-based practice of associated skills. During this course, the students will: - acquire knowledge on the principles of effective daily communication on climate change with diverse respondents. - practice in-class and real-life a set of associated communication skills. - acquire knowledge on the mechanisms and impacts of the Citizens’ Assemblies on climate change. - reflect on the connections between the acquired knowledge/ skills and the European and global efforts on climate action (SDG 13). |
